I am a registered midwife and worked at City Hospitals Sunderland for 37 years. In 2009 I became the lead midwife for infant feeding. In 2014 I trained to become a specialist tongue tie practitioner and set up the NHS service in Sunderland. To date I have performed over 5000 tongue tie procedures.

Breastfeeding has always been my passion and I have developed and led the team of maternity assistants to provide support for families at the beginning of their breastfeeding journey.

In 2015 I was responsible for Sunderland maternity unit achieving UNICEF baby friendly accreditation. In 2018 I passed the examination to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

I am registered with and regulated by the nursing and midwifery council, I am a member of the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners and also a member of the Royal College of Midwives and I am insured by Hiscox Insurance.

I have two grown up children and four grandsons.

I have been a La Leche breastfeeding counsellor since 2006 and an International Board certified Lactation consultant (IBCLC) since 2010.

I was employed by City Hospitals Sunderland for 10 years supporting mothers within the NHS and training mothers to become peer supporters.

In 2013 I was awarded the ABM Pam’s Prize for supporting breastfeeding women. I am a member of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain and am insured by Holistic Insurance Services.

In 2018 I studied to become an Holistic Sleep Coach.

In 2019 I also broadened my knowledge and studied to become a Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner.

I am mother of four nearly grown children and have experience of both breast and bottle feeding.
