Tongue Tie Specialists
Tongue tie is where the strip of skin under a baby’s tongue is shorter and tighter than usual. This can cause restriction in tongue movement and function which can cause feeding difficulties. This is what we call a tongue tie.
Breastfeeding should be pain free and comfortable for both mother and baby. We can do a full assessment to help you achieve this, finding the best positions for both of you to achieve a good milk transfer and optimal growth.

I am a registered midwife and worked at City Hospitals Sunderland for 37 years.
In 2009 I became the lead midwife for infant feeding and gained the prestigious award of Unicef Baby Friendly Accreditation a nationally recognised mark of quality care for mothers and babies.
In 2014 I trained to become a specialist tongue tie practitioner. Following this training I set up a division of tongue tie serviceat City Hospitals Sunderland. In 2018 I qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Following this training I set up the NHS service in Sunderland.
I have been a La Leche breastfeeding counsellor since 2006 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2010.
